Why Bankwell?
Under the SBA program, requirements include:
- Your business must operate for profit (ie, no non-profit organizations)
- You must use the funds for the business
- Operate in the US
- Not be delinquent on any debt to the US government
- Be creditworthy and reasonably assure repayment of the loan. This is determined on a case by case basis but will include review of the business history, the personal credit of the owner(s), collateral (though not required), income tax returns etc.
After you complete the quick form, we'll have a brief phone call. If your business is a fit and you'd like to move forward, the application itself typically takes 20 minutes - 1 hour depending on your business. If your application is complete you can have a decision in as fast as a few days.
The amount you can borrow will vary based on the health and history of your business. Under the SBA 7a program, loans can range from under $50,000 to $5 million.
The maximum loan terms for SBA loans are 10 years for working capital, inventory and equipment loans and 25 years for real estate loans.
